Greyhound Walk At Point Pleasant
Sunday afternoon, August 10th, while wandering through Point Pleasant Park, I was greeted by a herd or rather a 'Leash' of Greyhounds and their proud owners, each one had a different personality and were extremely friendly and happy to pose for a few pictures.
Greyhound Pets of Atlantic Canada (GPAC) members meet monthly to walk in Point Pleasant to socialize the pups with other greys and to promote greyhound adoption. These Greyhounds are retired racers from the USA and after they become too slow or often break a leg, they are unable to race, and GPAC rehomes them into loving homes to enjoy the rest of their lives. Retirement is often as young as 2 years old, and with a life expectancy of 12-15 yrs, they have lots of time left.
Greyhounds are "bred to run, born to love" GPAC can be reached at 889-2214, www.gpac.ca.
