The 17th Annual Royal Canine Dog Jog
The 17th Annual Royal Canine Dog Jog took place at Fort Ogilvie in Point Pleasant Park in Halifax on Saturday, June 14th. It could not have been a more beautiful day for the event – the sun was shining, a slight refreshing breeze was blowing, and the smell of hotdogs and hamburgers was in the air. As participants arrived for registration, they were provided goody bags with both canine and human treats and those raising over a certain amount of donations received a fun nylon bag donated by Global Pet Foods.
Muttly the mascot braved the heat by leading the walk along with the SPCA Metro Shelter adorable adoptable dogs. Thank heavens for Oxner’s Rentals of Halifax for generously donating several large tents where many of us found periodic escapes from the sun, and the bouncy tent which provided hours of entertainment.
A special thanks to all those who support this year’s event including our top fundraiser Christian Allaire ($750), Camp Bow Wow, Three Dog Bakery, Oxner Rentals and all those that participated and volunteered. The event was a huge success and raised over $11,000.
