SOBEYS HAIR CUTS FOR THE CURE

Sobeys store managers and employees, at four different locations throughout Haliax, shaved their heads for a good cause. There was a lot of pointing fingers and laughing but when it was all said and done, they were able to raise over $10,000 for the Tony Griffin Foundation. This is just one of the events being held around the province that will help support the “Celebrate Life. Cycle for Life.” initiative in October.

The “Cycle for Life” initiative is a 4,300 km ride between Halifax and Austin, Texas. Riders will be leaving Halifax on Oct. 14, 2008 on a twelve day ride to generate awareness and raise funds for the Lance Armstrong’s “Live Strong Challenge”, Ovarian Cancer and Craig’s Cause (local focus on pancreatic cancer) initiatives. Seventy-two riders have enrolled and will be raising $5,000 or more to go towards these important and worthy causes.

If you would like to know more, or how you can get involved please visit www.tonygriffinfoundation.com or call Ashley Ward at (902) 229-0264.
